Day Five

STEP 1: Watch the video above

 

STEP 2: Open Canva, and select the Instagram Story option. Import a screenshot of:

  • A customer review (this can be a DM - it doesn't have to be a website review!)
  • A DM from a customer saying they've purchased and are excited!

You can use multiple screenshots, as long as there isn't too much text.

 

STEP 3: Save from Canva to your camera roll

 

STEP 4: Select your audio:

 

STEP 5: Now that you're in Reels, select the 'Green screen' effect from the menu on the left

  • Tap "Change Background", then select the image from your camera roll 
  • Film yourself 'reacting' to the screenshot.
  •  

  

STEP 6: Write your caption and create your Reel Cover.

 

STEP 7: Share a Poll to your Story to drive engagement approx 10 mins before posting the Reel. You can also reply to a few DMs or Stories.

 

STEP 8: Post the Reel & reply to comments as they come in.

Day FOUR

Today you will be sharing an introduction post with your followers, but in a specific way. Read the instructions below carefully

STEP 1: Write your caption

Important notes for your caption:

  • Share a bit about your journey and/or a handful of facts about you that your audience would find interesting.

 

  • Use emojis as ‘bullet points’. This will make the caption digestible (the more digestible your caption is, the more likely your audience will actually read it & engage!)

 

  • Make at least one ‘fact’, about your business, so that this post ticks two boxes: 1. Builds connection. 2. Increases brand awareness.

 

STEP 2: Pair your caption with TWO images, thus making it a Carousel Post.

  • The first image should have you in it.
  • The second image can relate to one of your facts.

 

Carousel posts (a post with more than one image) is better for the algorithm compared to a post with just ONE image. Here's why 👇🏼

 

  • Instagram is tracking how long people spend on your post. If they have to swipe across to look at more than one image, they’re naturally going to spend LONGER on your post.

 

  • You get a ‘double dip’. Instagram will often show your audience a Carousel post TWICE. The first image, then the second image later. This means you get an extra opportunity for engagement!

 

  • It makes your Post multi-dimensional and more interesting for your audience compared to a post with just one image.

 

STEP 3: Ensure your images are portrait, not square.

 

  • Phone screens are small. A Portrait post will take up more space on a screen vs. a square one. This looks more visually appealing & will impact engagement.

 

  • The measurements you need to know:
    • 4:5 ratio or 1080px by 1350px

 

STEP 4: Be mindful of cropping 

Because you’re uploading a rectangle and the Feed consists of squares, a strip from the top & bottom of your image will be cropped out when people look at your Feed.

 

Use this hack if you want to see what your image will look like on your Feed before posting: https://www.instagram.com/p/CorOn5yDhvt/ or use an Instagram Planning app such as Plann or Preview, just to see what your image will look like on the Feed!

 

STEP 5: Share a Poll to your Story to drive engagement approx 10 mins before sharing your Post. You can also reply to a few DMs or Stories.

 

STEP 6: Share your Post & reply to comments as they come in.

  • OPTION 1: An announcement
    • POV: You just found out that our Pure Collection is 20% off for the next 72 hours

       
  • OPTION 2: Connect your audience to your products
    • POV: The courier just delivered your [biz name] package

    • POV: You realise you don’t need to spend hundreds on skincare for beautiful skin

    • POV: You finally discovered the perfect catch-all tray for your kitchen

    • POV: You finally find the comfiest Tee which goes with everything isn’t crappy for the environment

    • POV: You find the cutest bath bombs that don’t make your skin itch

 

  • OPTION 3: Something relatable to your ideal customer
    • POV: When you put the kids to bed & you can eat your snacks in peace

  • OPTION 1: A business milestone or why you launched your business
    • “I launched my business, thinking I’d only get a few orders. Now I ship worldwide & just sent my first order to Ireland!”
    • “You spend all your time setting goals for the future, but you don’t realise you just SMASHED the goal you had a few years ago!”

  • OPTION 2: Something your ideal customer needs to hear
    • "You should read this… so many of your happiest days haven't happened yet. There are people you're going to love, people who are going to love you unconditionally. Places you haven't been that you're going to discover. You have so much life ahead. Trust it!"

    • “Lately I’ve been reminded that no amount of worrying or analysing can give you control over what happens next. Loosen your grip.”

    • Life lesson: When you’re old and grey, you’ll be wishing you soaked up these “good ol’ days” more and didn’t sweat the small stuff.”
